Reaching Romania is a UK Christian charity working in and around the City of Arad. For the past fifteen years we have provided physical, emotional and financial support, but most of all, spiritual hope to those in need.
Our work covers meeting the basic needs of elderly people with limited pensions to supporting minors in children's homes, vulnerable babies, homeless people, a village children's programme, a Christian Centre & Music School, a school project plus individuals and families.
“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first commandment. And the second is to Love your neighbour as yourself”
Please help us to share God’s love with those in need this Christmas by supporting our Appeal. Your generosity can change lives. We personally distribute gifts around the projects during our December trip to Romania.
Romania still bears the scars of 42 years of communist rule. Even though it entered the E.U in 2007 there are still many people living in extreme poverty, especially in rural areas.
The desperate needs of the people touched our hearts and we were “called” to respond in a practical and spiritual way.
Romania has a rich cultural heritage of traditional holiday celebrations, crafts, music, food and 87% Eastern Orthodox religion.
Romania is now a Parliamentary Republic led by the President and Prime Minister.
After joining the EU in 2007 Romania was hit by the global financial crisis in 2009 resulting in harsh spending cuts affecting the everyday lives of an already poor nation.
As the second poorest country in Europe with the lowest health budget many Romanians especially the 44% from rural areas live in poverty with no internal water supply and poor nutrition.
“For He will deliver the needy who cry out, the afflicted who have no-one to help. He will take pity on the weak and the needy and save the needy from death. He will rescue them from oppression and violence for precious is their blood in his sight”
